Dane earned two titles this last weekend at the DK / Gold Cup Western Regional finals. He earned his fourth consecutive class title in 8 Expert, and his second consecutive Cruiser title in 8 Cruiser. Dane also attemped to earn his second Open class title and looked like the favorite to win by earning a win on Saturday but came up short with a second in the main on Sunday after a bad gate start from lane 8 and having to pass two riders before having a shot at passing the leader before the finish. He missed winning that main by inches. That second place main event tied him in points with the winner of that main and the tie was broken by who did better on Sunday placing Dane 2nd overall in 7-8 Open.

Dane has now earned seven Gold Cup titles in the last four seasons at only 8 years old. All of his titles except his first one in 2011 as a 5 year old have been in the Expert class. His first title was as a 5 Interemediate. Every year in the past Dane has gone into the finals as the points leader and in Cruiser class this year was no different.

This year in 8 Expert class Dane came into the finals tied with several riders for 4th place in the series (Due to a DQ at the last Gold Cup qualifier he was able to compete in at Bellflower BMX.) Dane was DQ'ed at that qualifier for passing the leader of the main event in the last turn and accused of "Impeding" the rider he passed down the last straight and had his much needed Gold Cup qualifier win taken away and relegating him to 8th place that day and 4th in the standings going into the finals. Because of this set back, Dane not only had to win the 8 Expert class over the two days of the Gold Cup finals to get the title, he had to beat the two 8X points leaders by at least two places each day of the finals. Against these odds and set backs Dane prevailed and took the championship in 8 Expert!
