New to BMX?

Welcome to the Sport of BMX:

Licenses-

Anyone attending a club event must hold a valid BMX Canada license. The cost is $85 for a full year from date of purchase. This license is valid at all BMX Canada tracks and sanctioned events.

If your child rides a balance bike or has not mastered the gate they will start as a half track rider and licenses are $45. They can be upgraded upon moving up to a full track rider.

One day waivers, loaner bikes and helmets are available!

Most riders start as a novice and move up to intermediate and expert as they come in first place for a set number of races.

Coaching-

The club sets specific days where a coach comes to the track and guides kids to improving their skills based on their competency levels.

Open practice-

The club sets specific days for licensed members to ride together, practice gates and hone in on skills either independently or among other attending riders. Half track riders are generally not in attendance during open practice.

Racing-

The club sets specific days for running races. Riders are given a time period to register as a rider for the race. Once registration closes the rider will be assigned a moto# based on what the system allows. Usually you will be paired with other riders in the same or similar age range and the same or similar skill level. Up to 8 riders per moto. Always check that the information on the moto sheet is correct. If it is not correct you must report his to registration for corrections. Under most circumstances riders will race 3 times total.

Follow @abbotsfordbmx on facebook to keep up to date on events and happenings. If we need to cancel for any reason we will announce it there.

Clothing-

For safety reasons we ask that you come with long sleeves, long pants, and running shoes. If you are new to the sport we have loaner bikes and loaner helmets to get you started. If you need guidance with the purchase of bikes or gear please ask us. We are happy to help.

Volunteers-

We are 100% a volunteer run sport. The club is non-profit and we need volunteers to assure that it runs smoothly. Please don’t hesitate to head up to the moto shed and ask how can I help.

We run an AGM every year in October and we have executive positions to fill. They include president, vice-president, track operator, assistant track operator, track director, secretary, treasurer, promotions, and concession. If you or someone you know would be a great fit please email us at [email protected] and nominate yourself or someone you know.

Sponsors-

If you or someone you know would be a great fit to sponsor the track we are always looking to collaborate. It could be as simple as a holeshot prize, donation to a raffle draw during a larger race or purchase of new equipment to better serve our community.
