NSBMX Code of Conduct

When using our track please be aware of and follow our Track Rules and the NSBMX Code of Conduct for the safety and positive atmosphere of all riders, parents and spectators.

  • The track is open to the public from dawn till dusk which is RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK. During sanctioned BMX events registered riders membership provides limited insurance.
  • The track is closed during sanctioned BMX events to non registered members. Please check track schedule on our website.
  • Please DO NOT ride the track if it is raining or muddy.
  • Modifications of the track ARE NOT PERMITTED for any reason.
  • You are required to hold a valid membership to ride during sanctioned BMX events.
  • All riders, parents and spectators must follow NSBMX Code of conduct and BMX Canada Rules to participate at any club event.
  • To race, riders are required to have full face helmets, gloves are recommended, closed-toe shoes, long sleeve shirts and pants unless wearing elbow and knee/shin pads.
  • The track is ONE-WAY ONLY. Do not ride the track backwards. It is difficult to see over obstacles and DANGEROUS COLLISIONS can and will occur.
  • DO NOT cut across track or stop on track unless advised by a track official.
  • Unsportsman-like conduct will not be tolerated. Respect others.
  • Always enter track at START GATE.
  • Keep the FINISH AREA clear.
  • NO motorized vehicles, EBikes, scooters, or skateboards. 
  • NO off leash animals allowed; please DO NOT throw objects for dogs to fetch on the track.
  • Please throw away trash in trash bins provided.
  • The consumption of alcohol and illegal drugs is prohibited.
  • Smoking or vaping is not encouraged and must be 150m away from any sanctioned event.
  • Most important rule: Have FUN and ENJOY riding at North Shore BMX track!

Failure to follow NSBMX Track Rules, NSBMX Code of Conduct and BMX Canada Rule could result in a permanent exclusion from the track. We appreciate your co-operation and kind understanding.

Rider Code of Conduct

  • I will ride for FUN! And be proud of being a BMX rider
  • I will always strive to do my best to achieve personal excellence through hard work and dedication.
  • I will treat my teammates, coaching staff, parents, officials, and competitors with respect and positivity
  • I will be a team player
  • That I will be humble in victory and gracious in defeat and will celebrate the success of my teammates
  • I commit to learn, understand, and adhere to both the written rules of BMX.
  • Bullying of any kind, both physical and verbal, is unacceptable and has no place in BMX. I will not engage in this behaviour and will inform my team coaches, parents or officials if I observe any acts of bullying.
  • That I will strive to be a role model and representative for the NSBMX Club
  • I will control my temper and refrain from any unacceptable behaviour that would reflect poorly on the club or the sport of BMX. This includes but is not limited to : Physical abuse, the use of foul language toward anyone, on or off the track, obscene gestures directed to anyone, on or off the track, making rude remarks toward anyone regarding other members, the organization, management, or sponsors
  • I understand that unsportsmanlike behaviour is unacceptable and could lead to suspension or termination of my involvement at the club.
  • I understand that no form of discriminatory conduct will be tolerated and will respect diversity in my fellow riders regardless of their gender, race, or colour.

PARENT/GUARDIAN Code of Conduct

  • I will support my child’s desire to be a BMX rider. I will provide positive encouragement to my rider before during and after races, as well as to all riders, demonstrating good sportsmanship.
  • I will allow my child to establish their own goals.
  •  That I will learn and adhere to the rules of BMX, and of each venue we attend. I will assist my rider to learn, understand and respect these rules.
  • I will lead by example and be respectful to all riders, coaches, officials, parents and the public, and will encourage others to do the same, demonstrating acceptable behaviour and language at all times.
  • I will place the emotional well being of my rider, and all riders, ahead of any personal desire to win.
  • I will respect and show appreciation for volunteers who give up their time for my child
  • I will remember my child rides for their enjoyment not mine

BMX Canada Rules of Conduct

  • Every rider must, at all times, demonstrate behavior that reflects the ideals of good sportsmanship and avoid any conduct which may bring themselves or the sport of BMX into disrepute.
  •  The use of radio assistance for any rider on the track is strictly prohibited.
  •  A rider may be disqualified or suspended for his/ her actions or the actions of his/her parent(s), or accompanying party.
  • A parent/guardian or accompanying party may have their event attendance privilege revoked for their own actions or actions of their rider(s).
  • A rider may be disqualified for team riding—letting another rider of same team or other affiliation pass so as to affect the overall outcome of any race.
  • A rider may be disqualified if any parent, team member, pit crew or other person physically assists that rider in any situation on the track during any qualifier or main.
  • Track crew members or any other person allowed on any areas of the track that are not open to all spectators, may not assist any rider physically, with verbal or non-verbal signals, or instructions that afford any rider an advantage over other riders on the track. A disqualification may result.
  • A rider may be suspended for damaging, stealing or destroying public or private property. (Parents, it is your responsibility to control a minor’s actions.)
  • A rider found intentionally misrepresenting his/her age may be suspended for up to one full year.
  •  A rider competing in place of another rider may receive a one-year suspension along with the rider he/she has replaced. A rider misrepresenting his/her presence at any race (“ghost rider”) will not be scored for that event and may face suspension. Additionally, any class that is illegally formed with a “ghost rider” will forfeit all points. Adding ghost riders to moto sheets is an illegal practice and will not be tolerated.
  • A rider participating in a “ghost riding” situation may be suspended.
  • A rider knowingly racing out of class may receive no less than a three-month suspension.

Riders, Parents and Coaches not abiding by this Code of Conduct may, at the discretion of the race director/official or North Shore BMX Executive, be disqualified or suspended and/or removed from the track.
