Announcement about practices during COVID
The District of North Van has now given North Shore BMX (NSBMX) the go-ahead to start holding practices. As you can imagine, it is only being allowed under certain restrictions. Restrictions are similar to last year, but there are some additional things we need to abide by.
-You must be a NSBMX BMX member. At this time the public health order does not allow for inter-club events.
-As of right now, only practices/clinics are allowed. We will be starting with Saturday practices, and then beginner/novice clinics in the following weeks once we get any issues sorted out.
-Weather depending we will generally start at 10am and will be announced on Facebook and Instagram.
-Registration will again be done via SQUARE.
https://inter-river-bmx-association.square.site/ Registration will open Monday mornings, and close around friday evening. If the link doesn't appear on Square, reg is closed.
-Everyone over the age of 2 entering the facility (past the check in table) will need to be wearing a mask when they are not wearing their full-face helmet.
-At the check-in table, the pre-registration list will be checked for your name, and you will be asked to verbally acknowledge that you are healthy and do not exhibit any COVID19 symptoms. If anyone is showing signs of cold, flu, or COVID-19 with coughing or sneezing, they will not be granted access and should self-isolate immediately.
-There are no spectators allowed. No one will be allowed to sit at the edge of the track.
-If a rider has special needs that would require a parent or guardian, those can be discussed ahead of time with Langley BMX executives on a case by case basis.
-We do need parent volunteers for duties around the track. If you want to stick around during practice, please use the available spot on the SQUARE sign-up to let us know. Duties may include first aid, corner safety watch, track watering, gate operator, and there’s always landscaping/grooming to do. These positions may be limited, depending on how many sign up.
-Group sizes must not exceed the current regional public health restrictions. Currently 25 including all participants, staff, and volunteers. Only 10 adult participants will be allowed per practice block or clinic.
-A 3m distance is required by the Public Health Order where possible. We do have permission to be closer for short period of time so we can get 4 in the gate.
-Loaner bikes will be allowed to be signed out. They are to be used by 1 person only per practice block, and will be disinfected prior to be put away after use. No helmets will be loaned out at this time.
-Please obey any signage and do not remove caution tape. They are there for a reason.
-We will be using odd number gates, and a reduced number of chutes. Chutes will be marked to remind what spacing is required.
-No handshakes, high fives, fist bumps etc. with other participants.
If you do not agree with and cannot abide by these restrictions, please stay home. NSBMX directors have worked hard to get the track ready for the season, and have worked hard to get things aligned with the public health orders. We do not want to have to police those that are coming out to practice. Play by the rules and most of all have fun!!
