Team USA goes 1-2 in Argentina

Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz./Dalight Cycle Co) and Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./Chase BMX/Monster Energy) went 1 and 2 in the main event on Saturday at round one of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Argentina.

Corben Sharrah, Connor Fields go 1 and 2 at Supercross #1

 

(March 26, 2016) – Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz./Daylight Cycle Co) and Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./Chase BMX/Monster Energy) went 1 and 2 in the main event on Saturday at round one of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Argentina.

After winning their respective quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, the two Americans made it to the final along with compatriot Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif./Haro Bikes/Dans Comp). Sharrah had a strong start out of gate four and powered his way to the win ahead of Fields who had gate number one. Amidou Mir of France rounded out the podium and Long was seventh.

Two Americans made it to the women’s main – Brooke Crain (Visalia, Calif./Hara Bikes/Dans Comp) and Alise Post (St. Cloud, Minn./Redline USA), who placed sixth and seventh behind winner Caroline Buchanan (AUS).

On Friday, riders contested the time trial super final where Alise Post made the podium with third place in a time of 34.637. Fields was the fastest American in the men’s contest, finishing fifth in 31.539.

The BMX Supercross World Cup will continue with round two in Manchester, April 9-10, while the North American Supercross series continues with back-to-back event at the end of April, with RockHill, SC and Grand Junction, CO. All of these events will be valuable points for Olympic rider qualification.
