PRESS RELEASE
USA BMX New England Nationals Bring the Nation's Top BMX Athletes to Trumbull, Connecticut
From first-time national competitors to seasoned champions, riders will gather at Trumbull BMX July 24-26 in pursuit of points for a USA BMX national title.
TULSA, Okla. (July 20, 2026)—Trumbull will become a crossroads for the BMX community as riders from across the country roll into town for the New England Nationals, the next stop on the 2026 USA BMX National Series. From July 24-26, athletes will line up at the gate – chasing valuable championship points, national rankings and the thrill that comes with racing at the sport's highest level. The weekend offers a front-row seat to the speed and close-knit community that fuels BMX racing across the country.
The New England Nationals mark stop no.21 of the 2026 USA BMX National Series. The three-day BMX competition will be held at Trumbull BMX at 370 Indian Ledge Park Dr. in Trumbull, Conn. Races begin at 1 p.m. Friday, 9:30 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.
"We're excited to welcome the 2026 USA BMX New England Nationals to Trumbull BMX," said Chris Gombos, track operator of Trumbull BMX. "Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of local families and businesses, we've made significant improvements across the facility. Our track has new concrete turns and redesigned straights, upgraded lighting, electrical systems and a modernized registration building. These investments are all about creating a better experience for every rider and family who comes through our gates. We can't wait to see the community enjoy everything that's new."
Beyond the community impact and preparation for the event, assistant track operator Kelly Horjatschun shared her excitement for the lasting impact the New England Nationals will have on athletes, families and the Trumbull community.
"At the end of the day, the best part is seeing riders and families arrive with excitement and leave with memories they'll carry long after the racing is over."
A national title is not decided at a single finish line – it is earned through consistency at every race along the way. The New England Nationals serves as a stop in the broader USA BMX National Series, welcoming riders from across the country as they compete for championship points and position in the national rankings. From the opening gate drop, athletes will be fighting for every advantage as they continue their pursuit of a coveted USA BMX national championship.
“We are pleased to welcome back the USA BMX New England Nationals to Trumbull BMX and are confident the athletes, their families and spectators of all ages will enjoy everything that Connecticut has to offer,” said Robert Murdock, president of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTMEETINGS). “With people coming here from over 30 states and Canada, this exciting event is expected to generate more than $2.7* million in revenue over three days as visitors stay in area hotels, dine in local restaurants, shop in the region and enjoy nearby attractions.”*
According to Murdock, approximately 910 jobs in the region’s hospitality industry will be supported by this event, and over $107,450 in Connecticut Sales Tax will be generated.*(*Destinations International calculator)
Trumbull offers plenty to explore beyond the track, from hiking and picnicking at Indian Ledge Park to shopping and dining at Trumbull Center. Just a short drive away, visitors can spend time along the Long Island Sound or visit the Beardsley Zoo, making it easy to turn a weekend of championship BMX racing into a family getaway. About USA BMX
Established as the American Bicycle Association in 1977 and headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ABA is the nation’s largest cycling organization with more than 70,000 members with combined racing and freestyle events at more than 300 sanctioned BMX tracks across the United States and Canada. ABA empowers and elevates the early stages of bicycle development by creating opportunities through facility development, programs, and national events. As a result, ABA has developed a structured blueprint. A cyclist can progress from humble beginnings on a balance bike to becoming a BMX Olympian by establishing these roots.
Through STEAM, scholarships, freestyle amateur events, the national series, the Olympics and new facilities built across the United States, these four pillars under the USA BMX organization will impact young riders and families: USA BMX Foundation, USA BMX Freestyle, USA BMX Racing and ABA Ethos.
