PRESS RELEASE

Hundreds of BMX athletes will converge at Coal Hills BMX in Cumberland, BC for the Vancouver Island BMX Nationals — the forth of seven National weekends stretching from BC all the way to Ontario.

Over 600 competitors from Canada and the United States will go head-to-head in pursuit of National titles and district points. The race format features riders grouped in heats of up to eight based on age, gender, and ability. Alongside the racing, attendees can explore vendors, team setups, appearances from Olympic hopefuls, and a range of food options available on-site.

Participants as young as two years old will compete on strider bikes, with divisions covering a wide range of ages and skill levels, including Superclass — the premier category featuring prize money for top finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions.

Admission is free for spectators, with racing running from Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2. The event is sanctioned by BMX Canada and supported by Impact Canopy, Tangent Products, and Fly Racing. A full event schedule can be found here.
