The competition level in Canada continues to rise as the next generation of riders are poised for a breakout season against their rivals from across North America. BMX Canada is investing in the future of the sport, while at the same time evolving the series to add more competition and excitement than ever before.
BMX Canada is thrilled to unveil a new Superclass series, which replaces the former Pro-Am classes, which now includes a 30+ Superclass group for the sport's veterans and legends. The inaugural Superclass champions will be crowned at the new Canadian Grands Show on Saturday, October 11 in Chilliwack – an early-evening event that will also feature a 13-16 Futures Showdown, prize giveaways, and special festivities.
🚀 Future Forward: 13–16 Futures Showdown
BMX Canada is investing more into the next generation of talent to make sure that Canada has a strong presence at the National and World level. Taking the top 4 (four) NAG-ranked riders from the 13,14,15 and 16-year-old Boys and Expert Girls classes, the chosen few will go head-to-head for special awards at the new Canadian Grands Show.
🏁BMX Canada is Evolving: Introducing the Lane Selection Transfer System (LST)
Starting in 2025, BMX Canada will transition from the traditional transfer system to a new Lane Selection Transfer (LST) System for all classes.
Under this new system, the top finishers from each of the two qualifying motos during race rounds will earn lane choices heading into the main event. A rider’s transfer position will award them gate pick order based on their transfer moto results.
What does this mean for you?
Even in classes with just 4 to 8 riders, you'll automatically qualify for the main event and earn points based on your finishing position. This streamlined approach is designed to create a more exciting chase for the coveted National Age Group and Overall Titles.
The LST system is designed to reward race performance and sharpen the competitive edge, while keeping things fair and fun for all riders.
🔥 Introducing the Superclass Series
Think of Superclass as the exciting new showcase for Canada's fastest riders, where aspiring amateurs and Pro-Elite competitors will clash for these new National titles. Reigning champions Zachary Frier and Keira Murphy face formidable challenges from talented amateurs, many of whom are targeting spots on Canada's National team.
Meanwhile, the newly introduced 30+ Superclass shines a spotlight on BMX veterans and legends, giving these experienced riders their own battlefield for National glory. This division is expected to expand rapidly as more seasoned competitors step up to contend for the new title.
New Class Structure:
-
Superclass 14+ Women
-
Superclass 14-29 Men
-
Superclass 30+ Men
🎉 Showtime at the Grands
After the dust settles from the Saturday National, you're invited back to the venue to enjoy the new Canadian Grands Show. You'll have just enough time to hustle back to your room or campsite and freshen up before enjoying the pumped up program. The new format blends races with special events to get everyone into the action.
The featured events include the Superclass series finals for Men, Women, and 30+ Men, plus the new 13-16 Futures Showdown.
