The 2019 DK South Central Gold Cup Finals were held at the freshly rebuild BMX oasis known as Central Texas BMX. The track was an instant hit and a few dared to give the tracks Expert rythem line a go. Known as the “Euro Line” it features European spacing and depth making it the most difficult section on the track.
The Pflugerville facility is no stranger to great racing and this weekend was no exception. We’ll start things off with a Texan who comes by way of Bolivia. Grecia Cristodulo has quickly moved to the top of her 13 Expert girls class and shows no signs of slowing down. She never saw a rider in front of her all weekend and doubled up with jackets and Gold Cup number one plates.
Chayse Mrazek laid the hammer down on the 12x and 12 Cruiser classes taking wins in each class each day. this kid has been having a stellar year and is on the cusp of national stardom.
The man to beat in the 51-55 Cruiser was none other than Mellow Johnny’s Will Black. This Austin local has returned to the BMX scene after doing damage around Texas on his Cyclocross and MTB’s.
J&R’s Shelby Elder claimed the top honors in the 12XG class. This 20,000 point alum must have inspired her team manager Scott Angus as he’s now trying to join her in that exclusive group.
In 16X Cameron Wing was easily the smoothest rider hitting the expert section on the third straightaway. Wing is a repeat Gold Cup champion who hails from Rowlett, Texas and doesn’t look to be giving up his plate any time spoon, especially when the final is in his home state.
