Our original goal at the Cornwall BMX Club was to construct and operate a self-sustaining BMX Canada sanctioned racing track in the City of Cornwall, and to reach as many young people as possible to provide them with a healthy and positive “alternative” activity that will allow them to grow physically and mentally through the sport of Bicycle Moto Cross (BMX) racing. This year we have succeeded!
The Club officially opened on Monday June 25, 2018 and we’ve been holding regular weekly races and practices since that time.
In the past year, the Club’s focus has been on the completion and ongoing maintenance of the track, securing funds and sponsors to continue the project, and finally growing our membership numbers through promotion of the Club throughout various social media platforms and by other means such as local media and by attending related shows and exhibitions.
By Fall 2018 the club’s membership has increased to 43 members, and interest in our Club’s activities has significantly increased.  More participants have been joining our events, particularly later in the racing season. Four of our members have also successfully qualified and earned Provincial rankings for the 2018 season including a Provincial Champion in the 12 year old Intermediate class (Cohen Shail).
Looking forward, there will be some big things happening in 2019 as we work with our partners to prepare for improvements to the track and surrounding area, and as we continue to promote and encourage new prospective members to join us by participating in this fantastic sport or by volunteering with our organization.
Congratulations to all of our members and volunteers, donors and sponsors who made this great year possible.  Thank you to the Board volunteers who believe in our vision, support our plans, and provide immeasurably good counsel.
